Local Foods Harvest Dinner and Murder Mystery Evening, Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Smiths Falls Curling and Squash Club. Dinner catered by Jo Edwards of The Cove Inn, Wesptport, and interactive mystery with the Smiths Falls Community Theatre. Tickets $50. Doors open 5:30, mystery and social hour 6 - 7, dinner at 7:00. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the REAL Deal or Modern Thymes, or by contacting us, cash or cheque only.
Composting Workshop. Saturday, September

Cedar Rail Fence Workshop Sat., Sept. 14, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at
REAL Environment Centre, 85 William St. W., Smiths Falls. Learn how to build a sheep fence from Steve Dopson. Cost is $35, snacks/drinks provided, bring a lunch. Bottle Drive at The Beer Store, 75 Lombard St., Smiths Falls Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10. Volunteers will be there to accept your bottle and can returns Friday 2 p.m. - 8 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Proceeds to REAL's environmental activities in this community. REAL Potluck Dinner and Annual General Meeting, Wed., June 19th, at at the Community Health Centre, 2 Gould Street, Smiths Falls. Bring a dish to share! Gather at 6, eat at 6:30, AGM at 7:15 or so. Note your membership must be paid up in order to vote. Members will be notified via e-mail or Canada Post.
Doors Open Smiths Falls, Sunday, June 9th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is the first time REAL will be participating in this annual event, where the public is invited to visit over a dozen sites in the community, for guided or self-guided tours. The REAL Deal Store will be open on that day. See more information on the event.

Fourth annual Customer Ask at Andress' Your Independent Grocer, May 31 to June 8 to coincide with Canadian Environment Week. Customers will be asked at the cash if they would like to donate $2 to their local environmental organization, REAL. The two bucks is just added to the customer's grocery total - no digging in your purse or pocket for change!
Smith Falls Home and Living Show, Friday - Sunday, May 3 - 5, at the Smiths Falls Memorial Community Centre. REAL will be showing residents some of the programs we have for homeowners, including Well Aware, energy audits and waste reduction opportunities.
REAL will be at the North Grenville Sustainability Fair, Sunday April 28th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the North Grenville Municipal Centre. The event, held to celebrate Earth Day, is a free family-oriented event that features local businesses and organizations that promote sustainable living, products and services. Pitch In Blitz of Ferrara, Fergusson and Harold (behind Andress YIG and Canadian Tire) on Saturday, April 20, 2013, from 9:00 - 11:30, rain or shine! Come help us clean up that area to kick off Pitch-In. We'll bring the bags, some spare gloves, and maybe even some refreshments.
Pitch In Smiths Falls, Saturday April 20 to Sunday May 5at various locations around Smiths Falls. Volunteer to clean up litter at a particular site. Let us know where, and we will supply some bags and supplies. Get back to us with how much you collected and how many participated. Contact Bonita at 283-1174.
Earth Hour is Saturday, March 23, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Switch off your lights as a symbolic gesture that you are concerned about the environment and climate change.
Third annual Second Chance Art Bazaar at Coffee Culture, corner of Russell and Beckwith Streets, Smiths Falls on Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23 from 10 a.m. until midnight. Come see the framed art, wall decor and other home decor treasures while you enjoy a coffee, and maybe buy some previously loved art to take home!
