Garbage

The Township operates three municipal waste disposal sites between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm at the following locations:

• Escott Waste Site and Escott-Rockport Road. Open Tuesdays and Saturdays, 8:30 - 5 p.m.
• Landsdowne Waste Site , 365 Kidd Road off Eden Grove Road. Open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 8:30 - 5 p.m.
• Lyndhurst Waste Site , Turk Rock Road off Briar Hill Road. Open Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, 8:30 - 5 p.m.

Garbage bags must bear tags that may be be purchased for $1.50 each or in a strip of 10 for $15.00 from: at either the Lansdowne or Lyndhurst Municipal Offices,  Lucky Dollar Convenience Store, Lansdowne; Gananoque Rent-all, Gananoque; Short Point Gas and Convenience, Lyndhurst; Lyndhurst Groceterial, Lyndhurst; Escott Public Library; Rockport Lighthouse Gas Bar on the 1000 Island Parkway.

Clear plastic garbage bags must be used. Personal items can go in a small white kitchen bag.

Recycling

The Township operates a comprehensive recycling program. This material is accepted at the waste disposal sites free of charge.

Items accepted include:

• Boxboard
• Corrugated cardboard
• #1, 2, 4, 5 and 7 Plastics
• Metal and Aluminum Cans
• Aluminum Foil
• Glass bottles and jars (food and beverage only)
• Newspapers and inserts
• Magazines, catalogues and phone directories
• Plastic grocery bags .

The following items are not accepted:

• styrofoam
• oversized plastic items
• plastic bags, food trays, and packaging
• microwave trays and glass cookware
• mirrors, window or auto glass
• light bulbs, ceramics, porcelain
• coat hangers
• propane tanks

Hazardous Waste

Residents can participate in the free Household Hazardous Waste Depots organized for residents of the United Counties of Leeds & Grenville. In 2010 the dates are Saturday, August 21 and Saturday, September 25. See a poster.
