Drummond-North Elmsley

Garbage

Drummond/North Elmsley offers curbside garbage collection.

Two (2) bags per dwelling unit per week, weighing not more than 40 lbs. each, will be picked up. (Bag Tags are not necessary for these items) Blue tags may be used for extra items (anything over the two bag limit) for disposal. Additional tags may be purchased for $1.00 each at the Waste Disposal Site and at the Municipal Office.

The township operates a Waste Disposal Site located at 745 Code Road (Drummond Ward) that is open Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It is closed Statutory Holidays, Civic Holiday and Easter Monday and can be reached at (613) 267-6991.

Homeowner Waste Site Permit Cards are required for access to the Waste Disposal Site. Identification must be presented to obtain a Permit Card.

Residential Waste taken directly to the Waste Disposal Site without bag tags will be charged at:

    • $75 per metric tonne, minimum charge of $5 which includes:
    • E-Waste
    • Painted and Pressure Treated Wood
    • Loose Plastics and Insulation
    • Upholstered Furniture and Mattresses
    • Large Wood and Stumps
    • Household Waste
    • Unpainted Lumber
    • Refrigeration Units $18
    • Tires with Rims $5 each 

No Charge Items:

    • All Steel (appliances, vehicles, etc)
    • Brush and Leaves
    • Tires without Rims

    Commercial and Demolition Waste will be charged at:

    • $125 per metric tonne, minimum $5 charge
    • Shingles and drywall $125 per metric tonne

Recycling

Drummond North Elmsley operates a curbside blue-box recycling program. In most cases, recycling is picked up on the same day as garbage, with exceptions on a few roads. The program accepts:

  • Boxboard - includes single layer boxes, egg cartons, tubes, brown paper bags and manila envelopes, but not milk cartons, laminated cartons, drinking boxes or waxed paper
  • Corrugated cardboard - no waxed or coated boxes
  • #2 Plastic - generally small mouth, plastic screw top
  • #1 Plastic - generally small mouth, plastic screw top
  • Metal and Aluminum Cans - food and beverage, empty paint cans, empty aerosol cans, crushed aluminum foil and trays
  • Glass bottles and jars - food and beverage only
  • Newspapers, magazines, and household paper - do not include hardcover books, manila envelopes, construction paper, wrapping paper, carbon paper, laminates or envelopes with windows

Blue boxes are available for $7 each.

NEW as of June 1, 2010 - #3 through #7 can be taken to the landfill where they will be recycled.  This does not include styrofoam and films.

Compost

Brush and leaves will be accepted at the waste site with no charge.

Home composters are available for $20 each.

Hazardous Waste

Note that the township does not participate in the Lanark County depot in Carleton Place.
