Garbage

Merrickville charges for waste disposal.

Tagged garbage and blue boxes are picked up at curbside and deposited at the landfill. There is no charge for recycling, but garbage tags and landfill passes are required for items that cannot be put out to curb. Please see website for landfill site hours and garbage restrictions.

Each individual will be given two free landfill passes that can be used on any day that the landfill is open.

Landfill passes and garbage bags are available at the municipal office.

Recycling

Merrickville runs a blue box program.

Items that can be recycled include:

• Glass Bottles and Jars
• Newspapers and inserts
• Steel and aluminum
• Box board
• Food and beverage cans
• Corrugated cardboard
• Aluminum foil and trays
• Magazines and telephone books
• Plastic containers - Code 1 and 2
