Garbage

Smiths Falls has weekly curbside garbage pickup. Each residence is restricted to two bags, but additional containers will be collected if they have a tag affixed to them. Tags can be purchased for $2.00 from the Town Hall.

The Town will accept:

  • Articles which would normally accumulate at a dwelling.
  • The Town will collect weighty, and bulky articles such as major appliances, bedsprings, mattresses, furniture, boxes, water tanks, and other such discarded material, but it counts as one of your garbage containers. E.g. you could put out two bags, or a bag and an unusable chair, or just two unusable chairs at no charge.s

The Town will NOT accept:

  • Industrial, Commercial, or Institutional waste (businesses, see recycling note)
  • Liquid or frozen material
  • Construction material
  • Automobile bodies or parts
  • Animal carcasses
  • Brush, timber, lumber, rocks, gravel, or soil
  • Any garbage that is not placed in a proper container or bag.
