Municipal Waste Options Tay Valley
There are one landfill sites in Tay Valley Township at Glen Tay (Bathurst Ward) the landfill is located on Muttons Road, off Harper Road, north of Hwy 7. In addition there are two waste transfer stations where waste and recyclables are collected by not landfilled. The Maberly site ( Sherbrooke Ward) is on Zealand Road, west of Hwy 36. The Stanleyville site is located on Stanleyville Road, south of Stanley Road. Site Hours: SUMMER - ALL SITES (Victoria Day to Thanksgiving) Monday , Wednesday and Saturday 8:00am – 4:00pm Sunday 12:00pm– 8:00pm WINTER – ALL SITES Wednesday and Saturday 8:00am - 4:00pm Glen Tay Site ONLY In order to access the landfill site, you need a waste services card. The card is good for as long as you own property, and must be available for presentation each and every time you go to the waste site. Dump cards are available from the Township office. All garbage must be bagged and may be checked by the attendant. Bag tags are available at the Municipal Office and are made available each January for the year. Each household receives 40 tags. Additional tags cost $1.00 per tag. Do not put a tag on your bag until you get to the site. In addition, one full container of recyclables allows you to dispose of one garbage bag for free (without using a tag) Items accepted include: tires, propane tanks, furniture, appliances, electronics, bulk waste. Tay Valley residents may use the Township of Lanark Highlands depot at 4686 Wolf Grove Road, Middleville. The Middleville depot is open Monday's from 3:00pm - 6:00pm, Wednesday's from 6:00pm - 9:00pm and Saturday's from 9:00am - 3:00pm between Victoria Day and Labour Day. The Township encourages residents to compost household and garden waste (such as brush) at home. It is a great way to reduce your household garbage. Including compost in regular bagged garbage is not permitted under By-law 98-68. Fines may be payable. If home composting is not feasible, Glen Tay and Stanleyville sites will acct compost. Only the following materials may be placed there:
Meat, grease and oil are not accepted for composting.
