Home > Featured News > No, We Don’t Want Your Paint

Several people have assumed, following an unwanted “drop and run” of what looks to be 55 gal. buckets of paint, that REAL is collecting paint now.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  We do not accept paint or any form of hazardous waste at the REAL Deal Store.  Please consult regeneration.ca for establishments that accept paint for recycling, and consult your municipality for its Household Hazardous Waste arrangements.  Be prepared to hang on to it for awhile, as most HHW collection sites are seasonal.  Thanks to Vanessa Bernicky, Town of Smiths Falls Environmental Coodinator, for her assistance dealing with the material that  was unlawfully left next to our ewaste bin.

Please do not leave any materials on our property when we are not open.  Check this website, call us at (613) 283-7999 or email us at [email protected] to find out what is acceptable.

Please note that we do not accept these items either:

  • large appliances such as washers, dryers, stoves etc.
  • appliances containing coolant:  refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, water coolers
  • mattresses
  • clothing – there are many other local charities that accept these
  • garbage of any kind

Please respect what REAL is trying to do – keep useful, reusable and resellable materials out of the waste stream.  We are not a waste disposal site.  We appreciate you cooperation, and encourage you to spread this message when you are referring to the REAL Deal Reuse Store.
