Jan. 20, 2018: Our REAL Deal Store is experimenting with using the Facebook Marketplace site to post some of the more valuable and unusual items  we have for sale.  In the past weeks we have posted several items that we felt could use some exposure in the broader community in order to sell quickly.  Most of these have been furniture: a cedar chest, some turquoise lamps, a sink and dresser combination created at the store, a deacon’s bench and a buffet, but was have posted some collectibles as well:  a five piece silver tea service and a hand cut Czechoslovakian crystal bowl.  To date the deacon’s bench has sold after it was spotted online by a woman from Kemptville, who hadn’t heard of our store up to that point.   This service should also help customers who aren’t able to drop in frequently to see some of the great used treasures we have to offer.

This Facebook service just launched in Canada this past summer.  Marketplace  lets users buy and sell items in their communities, and connect with Facebook Messenger.   Note that you do not have to be a Facebook user to view the items, only to make buy or sell posts.    Just use this link or google Facebook Marketplace.  You can set your geographic range and browse by category.  People interested in the items posted are given the store number to call for more information and the store’s address and hours if they want to see or purchase it.  They are also warned we are a cash only operation!
