Tickets are now on sale for our annual Local Foods Harvest Dinner on Saturday, October 20th. This dinner with a difference celebrates our local food producers and is REAL’s big fundraiser for the year. Get together a table of friends to enjoy a delicious buffet dinner of foods produced close to home. Back by popular demand is Chef Joanne Edwards, of The Roamin’ Tomato. Joanne cooked for us the two years the dinner was held at the Smiths Falls Curling Club, when she was working a The Cove in Westport. This year’s main dishes are Braised Chicken with Apples and Sage, Bison Cabbage Rolls in a Mushroom Sauce and a vegetarian option, Lentil Squash Curry.
This year’s event is being hosted at the Smiths Falls Legion at 7 Main. St. E. A popular part of the evening is the social hour, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. where guests can sample from various appetizer stations and meet some local producers, and enjoy local beers and Ontario wines from a cash bar. The Giocoso Strings will be back to entertain, thanks to a On the Roll grant from the Town of Smiths Falls. And once again, an wonderful selection of items will be available in our silent auction.
Tickets are $60 per person. Get them at Modern Thymes at 11 Russell Street, Monday to Saturday, or the REAL Deal Store, 85 William Street, Thursday to Sunday. Or call Cathryn Davidson at (613) 283-9819. Cash or cheque (payable to REAL) are preferred, but an online option can be arranged. A charitable tax receipt for $20 will show your support for environmental action in this community.
