The REAL Deal Store offers other waste reduction opportunities for area residents. Besides used electronics, the store accepts batteries, mercury thermostats, and used toner and printer cartridges, and gets them to other organizations to be recycled safely. Scrap metal and scrap wire (including old Christmas) we use to raise a bit of money. The REAL Deal Store is also a drop location for plastic milk bags, which people then crochet into sleeping mats for developing countries. We accept used writing instruments, which we take to Staples. In February 2021 we began accepting empty pill bottles, crayons and glue sticks. We will be discontinuing our collection of used coffee pods effective March 31, 2021. Clean used grocery bags can be used in our store for customer purchases; if we get too many, we pass them on to other local non-profit organizations.
