Home > Greenspace > Junk Art at the REAL Deal

Thanks to a generous donor, Smiths Falls artist Val Hudson was commissioned to create a work of art for the REAL Deal exterior. She created six junk art panels from used items at the REAL Deal store or other items that were being discarded. The panels were created at her home and then mounted at the REAL Deal in September 2011 courtesy of Kilmarnock Enterprises. Read EMC story.  The panels were removed for repairs in 2016 but are now back!

A “Name that Junk” contest was held to challenge people to name the materials used in the panels. See a list of the art panel contents.

To see the panels full size, come to the REAL Deal Reuse Store at 85 William St. W., Smiths Falls. A plaque describing the project is inside the store.
