REAL will be planting our mini-forest at Hyland Park on Sat. Oct. 5. A little over 300 trees will be densely planted in the area we prepared April 13 of this year. We are hoping to involve some volunteers!
The site is Hyland/Corbett Park, the block between Empress, Chambers, Elgin and Sussex ) . This is the park with the play structure, as well as the five larger trees REAL planted this spring.
REAL invites teams/individuals/families to help out on the planting day. Children are most welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult. As it is a small space, volunteers must preregister and be assigned a time. Most 1 m squares will be planted with three trees from the four different categories.
Tree planting will start at 9:30 am, and teams will be scheduled every 30 minutes, throughout the day.
If you would like to participate in the planting of the mini-forest, please email Dave Thornley. Advise how many will be in your team, and if you have a specific time of the day requirement. You can also phone Dave at (613) 205-0320
There will be gloves, trowels, and shovels available on site.
