Yes, pens be recycled! TerraCycle® and Staples Canada have partnered to provide a second life for used writing instruments. You can take your old pens to your nearest Staples store (Carleton Place or Brockville). But the REAL Deal store will now be collecting them at the REAL Deal store to make it easier for donors and shoppers. Look for a collection bin near the customer entrance, or just ask.

- Mechanical pencils
- Markers and marker caps
- Highlighters and highlighter caps
- Permanent markers and permanent marker caps
Over 2 million writing instruments have already been collected through Staples stores, and have avoided the landfills. Once collected they are separated by material, then cleaned, shredded, and made into new recycled products.
