
Spring and summer are a busy time for REAL, and we are still narrowing down the dates. But here are some of the early in the season happenings to watch for.
Pitch In Smiths Falls/ Shoreline Cleanup – is scheduled for Sat. Apr. 19 to Sat. May 3, winding up with a Shoreline Cleanup Sat. May 3.
There is one more Community Garden plot available, $25 for the season. So let Ginny know soon if you would like it!
Rain Barrel and Native Plant Sale – is set for Sat. June 7. We are bringing in a nice selection of native plants from Natural Themes in Frankford. We still have some rain barrels from last year if you are anxious to get started, otherwise place your order at rainbarrel.ca/REALDeal. There are seeds collected from REAL’s gardens available at the REAL Deal store now.
Evergreen Commemoration – New date: Sunday, June 22, 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. Additional paver stones are being placed along the path at Victoria Park, and will be celebrated at an event at the Royal Canadian Legion, Smiths Falls. Some environmental awards to be presented that day also.
REAL AGM – Wed. June 18 at the Cristina,, 45 Elmsley St. S, Smiths Falls. Our guest speaker will be Tina Bye, Program Manager, who is running the Rideau Roundtable’s new EcoLiteracy program at six area libraries.

Mushroom Compost Sale – Trinity United Church will be back selling mushroom compost by the bag starting Saturday, May 10 from the REAL Deal parking lot.
Rideau Paddlefest – is set for Sat. June 7 at Lower Reach Park. Watch the Rideau Roundtable’s Facebook page for details.
Friends of the Tay Watershed Discovery Day – Saturday, August 16th at the Perth Crystal Palace. Open until 1 p.m. when the market closes.
